Come with us as we return to South America this summer to volunteer at La Casa De Fe, a home for abandoned and special needs children in Shell, Ecuador.

Movie Monday: Rayana’s Laugh

One of my favorite activities at Casa de Fe was spending one-on-one time with the babies every day. I got to spend a lot of time with Rayana, one of the special needs babies. She is blind, uses a feeding tube, and cannot sit up, much less run around with the other kids her age. But spend a few minutes with her and she will show you what true beauty is. Her laugh and smile are two things I will never forget!

Movie Monday: Rosa’s New Ride

Rosa is one determined little girl who has overcome so many challenges. With one foot missing and braces on her legs mobility has always been a challenge. However, with a specially outfitted trike (strap on sandals attached to the pedals) Rosa was cruising in no time.

Movie Monday: Girls Craft Day

One day we brought all of the big girls over to our house for a special activity. We wanted to give them some time to do crafts that were more complicated than what the little kids do, and we also wanted to get to know them better. We pulled out a bunch of beads and ribbons and made some headbands, then the girls got creative and started making foam pictures.

Movie Monday: Quito

While we spent most of our time in the small town of Shell, Ecuador also has some major metropolitan cities. The capital city of Quito is huge and crowded in between two mountain ranges. When we first arrived in Ecuador we went on a gondola up the side of the mountain had this amazing view from the top.
